What Size or Gauge Body Jewelry Should I Order?-It is impossible for us to tell what size body jewelry you need for your particular piercing. There is no "standard" size that all Piercing Professionals use. We can tell you the most common sizes and gauges used for a particular piercing, but that will not necessarily be the size that you have. The only way to accurately determine the size you need is to contact the piercer and ask what gauge you were pierced with or measure the jewelry you are wearing and use that as a guide line for new body jewelry purchases.

We provide a free measuring chart (Click Here) that you can print and use to measure your jewelry. This chart also includes instructions on how to accurately measure your jewelry. If you cannot print the chart, you can view it on your computer screen and follow the measuring instructions using a ruler. Or you can go to a local Piercing Professional and have them measure the jewelry for you.

DO NOT MEASURE JEWELRY ON THE COMPUTER SCREEN! THE SCALE WILL NOT BE ACCURATE AND MEASUREMENTS WILL BE INCORRECT.

Here are some of the sizes for more common body piercings:

Lip-16 gauge, 5/16" length is the most common size for lip rings after the piercing has fully healed. Usually you are pierced with a lip ring (labret stud) that is 3/8" or longer to compensate for swelling after piercing. When the piercing heals, most people can use a 5/16" length, but not everyone! Again, this is a guide line. If your lip is thicker, you may need a longer length lip ring. Some piercers are also using 18 gauge for lip piercings. The only way to properly determine the size you need is to measure!

Nose-The most common gauge for a nose piercing is 18 gauge. That is the gauge most piercers use. Many people want a smaller gauge hole in their nose, so they go down to 20 gauge or 22 gauge which are thinner than 18 gauge. Some nose piercings are 16 gauge (thicker than 18 gauge), but they are less common. There is no "right" type of nose ring. The customer usually chooses what style they want (screw, bone, stud or ring) based on personal preference, comfort, ease of use etc. We recommend you consult with a local piercing professional if you are not sure how to use a certain type of nose ring. Some nose rings come in different lengths, diameters, etc. The size you need is based on where your piercing is placed on the nose and how thick your nose is, etc. The only way to properly determine the size you need is to measure a piece of jewelry that fits properly and use it as a guide line!

Ear Cartilage Piercings-The most common gauge for a cartilage piercing is 16 gauge, unless pierced at Claire's or Walmart, etc. They pierce with a 20 gauge needle. Many people want a smaller gauge hole in their ear, so they go down to 18 gauge which is thinner than 16 gauge. 20 gauge & 22 gauge are the thickness of regular earring studs. For cartilage hoops, 1/4" dia. is tiny and usually OK for a tiny ear, piercing close to edge of the ear. 5/16" is slightly larger and most common. 3/8" is good for a piercing farther away from the edge of the ear. The only way to properly determine the size you need is to measure a piece of jewelry that fits properly and use it as a guide line!

Navel-14 gauge 5/16"" or 3/8" length is the most common size for belly button rings after piercing is fully healed. Usually you are pierced with a barbell or ring that is longer than 3/8" (7/16", 1/2", 5/8" or longer) to compensate for swelling after piercing. When the piercing heals, most people can use a 5/16" OR 3/8" length, but not everyone! Again, this is a guide line. If your piercing is shallow, you may need a shorter length barbell (1/4" (6mm). Deeper navel piercings may need a 1/2" (12mm) or 5/8" (16mm). If you have had your piercing for several years, you may have a 16 gauge piercing, which is thinner than 14 gauge. The only way to properly determine the size you need is to measure!

Tongue-14 gauge 5/8" length is the most common size. Usually you are pierced with a barbell that is longer than 5/8" (3/4" 7/8" or 1") to compensate for the swelling of the tongue after piercing. When the tongue heals, most people can use a 5/8" length, but not everyone! Again, this is a guide line.

Eyebrow-16 gauge 5/168" length is the most common size for eyebrow piercing, but many people need the 3/8" length, which is usually the length you are pierced with. We sell lengths from 1/4" to 1/2". The only way to properly determine the size you need is to measure a piece of jewelry that fits properly and use it as a guide line.

How quickly will I receive my order?--We usually ship all orders within 24-48 hours of receipt of the order. We do not ship on Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays. If we are out of stock on an item that you order, we will contact you immediately via email with an estimated ship date. You will not be charged for a back ordered item until it ships. We usually receive stock within 3-5 days (with the exception of custom made 14K gold pieces. See 14K gold policies for details). We send a free piece of jewelry with every back order for the inconvenience.

Shipping Information

Please be sure enter the correct and complete shipping address when placing your order. Include Company Name (if applicable), Apartment number, Suite number, etc. Body Sparkle is not responsible for orders shipped to incomplete or incorrect addresses. Many shipments are returned to us, or lost in the mail because of incomplete or incorrect shipping addresses.

We charge a $1.99 (withing the US) shipping fee to re-ship orders due to incorrect address via first class mail. Orders shipping outside the United States with incorrect addresses will be charged the full shipping amount to re-ship order.

US Postal Service. Guaranteed one day delivery to most locations, two days to others. You will be notified via e-mail of guaranteed day of delivery. Available for delivery to USA addresses only, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands. If possible, we will ship an Express Mail orders the same day order is placed, but that is not guaranteed. If you need your order expedited for a special occasion, please contact us and let us know via telephone or e-mail. Express mail shipments can be delivered on Saturdays at no extra charge since Saturday is a normal mail delivery day for the US Post Office.

FedEx Next Day Delivery-$35.00 Delivered to most locations in the Continental USA on the next business day. FedEx charges $10.00 for any address corrections that have to be made. Customer will be responsible for these charges if incorrect address information is provided on your order. Alaska and Hawaii will have additional charges. Exact shipping charges for orders shipping to Alaska or Hawaii will be quoted before shipping order. If possible, we will ship a FedEx order the same day it is placed, but that is not guaranteed.

If you need your order expedited for a special occasion, please contact us via telephone or e-mail and let us know. Delivery by 10:30 am, next day is available for an extra fee. FedEx can deliver on Saturdays for an additional fee (usually around $30.00). If you need an order delivered on a Saturday, we suggest you use USPS Express Mail. FedEx does not deliver on holidays or weekends.

Delivery takes approximately 4-10 days, depending on your location, not guaranteed to be delivered within 10 days. Delivery times can also be affected by the Customs procedures in your country. We cannot track shipments outside the United States. All shipments include insurance. BodySparkle is not responsible for any duties and/or taxes that are imposed on shipments to your country.

The types of payment BodySparkle accepts are:

  1. Credit Card-We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. We use an Address Verification System to help prevent fraudulent internet transactions. You must enter the billing address on your order exactly as it appears on your credit card or bank account. This is very important. If the address you enter does not match the address on your credit card statement, your transaction will be declined and your order will not be processed.

    We also require that you enter the Card Security Code (also known as CVV2) from your credit card. This is another step we take to help guard against fraudulent internet transactions. The Card Code location varies depending on your type of credit card.

    The Card Code for Visa, Mastercard and Discover is three digits long and is located on the back of your credit card here:

  2. Check or Money Order-Checks and money orders should be made payable to BodySparkle. Orders paid with a money order ship within 48 hours of receipt of payment. Money orders can be purchased at most Post Offices, banks and some convenience and department stores. Money Orders from Outside the US must be in US Funds.

    If you do not add shipping charges, your payment will be returned to you.


    Personal checks will be held for 10 business days before the order will ship. When you choose check or money order as method of payment, after you submit your order, you will get an order form that you can print out and mail to us with your payment. We do not accept checks electronically at this time. If you do not have a printer, just write your order out on a piece of paper. Include the order number, your full name, address and telephone number (in case we need to contact you about your order).

    Please do not send any payments in without any contact or order information, or we will not know what to do with your payment. Payments must be received by BodySparkle within 10 days of the date of order placement, or we must cancel the order.

  3. Fax Payment Info with Order-If you do not feel comfortable using your credit card on the internet, you can fax your credit card information to us. When you choose "Fax with Payment" as your payment option during checkout, after submitting your order you will get an order form that you can print out and fax to us. Just write your credit card information clearly on the form. Include the type of credit card, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express, the credit card number, expiration date and card code (see paragraph above for explanation of the credit card code).

Debit Cards-We accept only debit cards that have the Visa or MasterCard Logo. They work just like credit cards, but are usually tied to a checking account. Most Child Support cards and Rebate debit cards cannot be used on our web site. They do not use the address verification and/or CVV2 security code. The Card Code CVV2) is located in the same place as a regular credit card (see How Can I Pay for My Orderhere).

The problem with using these debit cards comes when a transaction is declined. On a declined transaction, your bank puts aside the funds in your account in case the merchant approves the purchase later. They can hold the funds from 24 to 72 hours. They will tell you that the merchant can release the funds, but each time we call a bank to try and release funds, we are told that we cannot.

Please be aware of this before you use your debit card! If a transaction is declined for an incorrect billing address or invalid card code, and you attempt to put the transaction through more than once, there is the potential that the funds from these multiple transactions may be held for a few days by your bank. For example, if you put try a $25.00 order through and is declined 4 times, you will have $100.00 temporarily put on hold in your checking account. You will not be able to use these funds until you bank releases them, usually in 24-72 hours.

If you have a declined transaction, do not click on the submit button again! Please contact us before attempting to put through the transaction again and we will see if we can resolve the problem. We cannot stress this enough!

Security-Yes, ordering online with us is safe and secure. We employ a method of interaction with our visitors that does not compromise credit card information. Our online system is secured using SSL and Authorize.net Payment Services.

We use a secure Web server for all credit card transactions to help ensure that purchases you make from our Web site are protected. Many browsers, such as Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator, Internet Explorer, AT&T's WorldNet Service browser, and America Online 3.0's browser use a technology called "Secure Sockets Layer" and can take advantage of the special protection that our Web server offers. This means that your name, address, and credit card number are encrypted (coded) so outsiders cannot read them.

You will notice that when you check out of our store, your browser changes in appearance. Netscape Navigator displays a blue line at the top of the window and a key in the lower left corner. Microsoft Internet Explorer, AT&T's WorldNet Service browser, and Netscape Communicator display a closed padlock at the bottom of the window. These changes indicate that when you are checking out, Authorize.net has checked our Server ID and verified that we are qualified to accept credit card information online.

BodySparkle's identity has been verified by GeoTrust, Inc, a third party validation of a website identity. We are authorized to display the TrustLogo on our web site. You can view our web site's credentials by putting your mouse pointer over the Trust logo in the lower left hand corner of each page.
