BodySparkle Privacy & Credit Card Security Policy
We collect information provided by you in the process of placing an order with us. The requested personal information may include: your name, home address, telephone number, e-mail address and (for those purchasing products online) credit card information including billing and shipping addresses. For some activities, we may ask you to create a username and password, such as participating in our Sparkle Reward Points Program. Whatever the purpose may be, we will only collect information to the extent reasonably necessary to fulfill your requests and our legitimate business objectives. We never share information collected with outside sources.
If you choose not to submit personal information when requested, you may not be able to participate in certain activities on our Websites and may limit the services we can provide you. For example, if you refuse to share your email address, you may not be able to receive general support, product support, order confirmations or shipping statuses via email. To simply browse our Websites, however, you do not need to give us any personal information.
We collect information through technology to make our Web sites more interesting and useful to you. For example, when you come to one of our Web sites, we collect your IP address. An IP address is often associated with the portal through which you enter the Internet, like your ISP (Internet service provider), your company, or your university. We also record your IP address when you place an order with us. This helps to track credit card fraud.
WebSite Security Ordering online with us is safe and secure. We employ a method of interaction with our visitors that does not compromise credit card information. Our online system is secured using SSL and Authorize.net Payment Services.
We use a secure Web server for all credit card transactions to help ensure that purchases you make from our Web site are protected. Many browsers, such as Internet Explorer and FireFox use a technology called "Secure Sockets Layer" and can take advantage of the special protection that our Web server offers. This means that your name, address, and credit card number are encrypted (coded) during transmission so outsiders cannot read them.
You will notice that when you check out of our store, your browser changes in appearance. Microsoft Internet Explorer shows a closed padlock at the bottom of the window. This indicates that when you are checking out, Authorize.net has checked our Server ID and verified that we are qualified to accept credit card information online.
BodySparkle's identity has been verified by GeoTrust, Inc, a third party validation of a website identity. We are authorized to display the TrustLogo on our web site. You can view our web site's credentials by putting your mouse pointer over the Trust logo in the lower left hand corner of each page. We also are scanned daily by McAfee Secure for thousands of hacker vulnerabilities.
Credit Card Security
BodySparkle Body Jewelry takes credit card security very seriously. We do not store credit card numbers on our web site or in our office. When placing an order on our web site, the billing address entered must exactly match the information on file with the bank that issued your credit card or debit card. You can ship to another address, but the billing information must match. This is one of the methods used to make sure that the personal placing the order is the actual card holder. There is a service that the banks have set up for use by web sites to automatically check billing addresses, expiration dates and CVV2 card codes called the AVS System (address verification system). If everything on the order matches the information that the issuing bank has, the order will go through.
If the billing address, expiration date or CVV2 code do not match what the issuing bank has on file, the payment will be declined and the order will not go through. You will see an error message at the top of the checkout screen if this happens. When a credit/debit card payment is declined, an authorization transaction is created by your bank and the funds are held on your account. If looking at your account through online banking, it will look like BodySparkle has charged your credit card. These are not actual charges. These are authorizations held by your bank, usually for 1-3 business days, then they drop off. These are not charges by BodySparkle. We will only charge your card for orders that are approved . BodySparkle does not get the money for these transactions and we never charge your card for these. Although you may get conflicting information from your bank, when pressed, they admit that this is true. Funds on some prepaid debit cards such as child support or unemployment cards are held much longer than 1-3 days, sometimes as much as 30 days. This is something to be aware of when using these cards.
BodySparkle does further credit card verification on some orders at our discretion. If there is an order we wish to further verify, we will contact you requesting more information. Please note that we may ask you for your credit card number again since we need the number to verify the information with your bank and we no longer store credit card numbers in our system.
